My goldfish tank always turns green within a week and thick green slime develops on all of the surfaces on my tank. Also brown spots appear after just 4 days. I have a filter and I change 30% of the water every week. I add fresh start and filter start to take away the chemicals and add good bacteria.

Answer (1 of 1): My goldfish has the same thing and as far as I know I think it might be because of a sickness called fin and tail rot. I've looked it up and on Google and it says that the cures are aquarium salt and these other things. You can look it up and you'll find the two other cures. If you find out how to cure them please tell me.

I recently bought 12 small goldfish for my pond and 3 went black (all over) after 3 to 4 days. There were many tadpoles in the pond when I put the fish in and now there are only one or two. One of the 3 goldfish seems quite bloated. It sounds stupid but could the fish have gorged on the tadpoles and it was this that turned them black.
